Culture and Fashion Trend
Fashion is a mode of self-expression and independence in a certain context and time and in a certain social situation and in a certain social setting. The word in it simplest form, suggests a style defined by the fashion industry, as what is fashionable at that time. But on the other hand, we could also say that to be fashionable is to be aware of one’s surroundings and fashion trends in a given locality and culture.
The concept of fashion has been around for ages, as earlier it was associated only with the wealthy classes. It has become more acceptable among the masses and is now practiced by the majority. However, when we talk of fashion, people talk not only about what is fashionable but also what is inappropriate. One may look good but if it doesn’t fit in one’s workplace or home and one’s dress is out of vogue then it will create a negative impact on his personality.
Fashion trends are based on what is considered to be appropriate, in current times and according to the culture of the people. Fashion has also changed with the passage of time. Earlier, for example, a suit was something worn by elite class only. But today, in the working environment, casual attire is much more in demand and so designers have designed clothing keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the working class. Moreover, in the recent days, people have started combining two or more pieces of accessories to make a new style that may be in fashion but is in tune with the wearer’s lifestyle. So, to conclude, fashion is more of a culture and a mindset, than an outfit.
