Fashion is a mode of autonomy and self-expression at a certain time and place and in a certain context, of clothes, footwear, cosmetics, hair, body posture, and style. The word “fashion” actually means a style defined by the fashion business as what is trendy at a given point of time in time. What is deemed as fashion, though, is subject to change frequently with new trends taking prominence in each culture, region, or even country. It is said that fashion is a simultaneous process of conception and gratification.
For this reason, it is important to use this activity as a case study to help explain a number of issues associated with fashion. In particular, we recommend using the following questions and answers set forth below. As this activity is based on the dynamic process of fashion, we recommend that you start with the basics and then progress to more complex styles. To start, ask yourself the following questions: what does fashion mean to me? What styles would I love to have to wear one day?
After answering both of these questions, ask the following: What types of styles can I wear to fit my lifestyle? What types of fashions do you like? How do the styles in fashion differ from culture to culture? Lastly, ask yourself, “Why do some fashions look good on me but not on you?” By answering these questions and by developing a full understanding of the dynamics of fashion, you will be able to develop and refine your own personal fashion style so that you look your best.
