What Is Fashion?
Fashion is a style of dress and self-expression in a particular time and venue and at a particular context, typically of clothing, footwear, life, accessories, cosmetics, hairstyle and body structure. The word “fashion” means a style defined by the fashion industry with regard to what is trendy at that time and place. In the US, fashion tends to refer to the general trendiness of the culture and the social milieu. It is used to identify what is trendy or what is considered in vogue. Fashion is usually associated with clothes and attire.
The most common items of fashion apparel are trousers and jackets, dresses, skirts, tops and dresses, lingerie, swimwear, shoes, jewelry, handbags, accessories, hair accessories, make-up, fragrances and perfume, watches and fashion watches. High fashion designers include some names of famous designers such as Versace, Dior, Calvin Klein, Fendi, Burberry, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and Tiffany & Co. Some high fashion houses include Dolce and Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi, Mulberry and DKNY.
Fashion shows are exhibitions of latest fashion and clothes. They occur in many places including major world cities such as New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Cannes and Miami. Fashion shows are organized by various fashion houses, fashion magazines, designers, and designers’ advisers. Fashion shows are for both genders, young and old. Generally, fashion shows are organized for both men and women and they are accompanied by special music, dancers and celebrities.
